When we are told to be a good steward, it’s not telling us to sign up as housekeeping staff on a boat. The word, steward, translates in Greek as οá¼°κονÏŒμον (pronounced “oikonomon”). This word most closely correlates in modern English to manager.

Herb Miller writes, "The goal of Christian stewardship is the faithful management of all that God gives so that God can use our gifts to transform us spiritually and to extend Christ's transforming love to others."
